Going into the summer, Leeds United knew they would have a problem concerning their goalkeeping department. The club have now gone from four options last year to just two this week.
Karl Darlow, Illan Meslier, Alex Cairns and Lucas Perri were all part of the team this past year.
Perri was the first choice, but took a backseat when he was benched for Darlow midway through the season. The Brazilian did have a decent run in the FA Cup when he played.
Meslier was the third choice goalkeeper; he never played and was only in matchday squads.
Cairns was a part of some U21 games like Meslier in the previous campaign, he was the reserve keeper.
As of this week, only two remain at Elland Road.
Leeds United target agrees to transfer
Perri is still under contract, and Cairns has signed a new deal with Leeds United.
Illan Meslier left the club after seven seasons, and recently joined Arsenal on a free transfer. The move came as a bit of a shock to Leeds fans who were not fans of the Frenchman on his way out.
Karl Darlow officially joined Manchester United on Tuesday, ending his spell with the Whites.
The search has began for a new number on at Elland Road, with Daniel Farke not a fan of Lucas Perri. Many names have been linked since the summer window opened, but nothing concrete has been confirmed.
The 49ers can check one target off the list, as FC Volendam goalkeeper Kayne van Oevelen has given his verbal agreement to Valencia over a move this summer. The report from Super Deporte claims a fee is to be agreed between both sides.
22-year old van Oevelen will reportedly cost around £2 million.

Situation at Elland Road is getting concerning
Things will get really complicated now that Karl Darlow is officially gone.
Lucas Perri has been linked with a move away, and looking at the reports, Leeds could let him go. This would leave just one first team keeper under contract as preseason begins.
The club had plans to sign a first choice goalkeeper, but they could end up spending on two players.
Getting a keeper good enough to start at this level is difficult enough, and the price tags in this market are inflated. Hopefully the recruitment team can get a solid addition to the team this summer.
how can Farke not be a fan of Perri, he signed him.
Not sure he has a say, took a year to get Wilson, and all these so called links getting pulled out the hat, and we cant sign anyone, are we for real?
So we are going for a second rate keeper now van Oevelen who on earth is that, what a joke we are, the laughing stock of the league, all these links and we have one free one that took over a year to get! Go for Trafford or Suzuki, if you don’t we will leak mega goals awful window, you leave it too long, clubs see your desperate so price goes up, not sure whose actually running this farce, but we are being left way behind everyone else! 🙈
