Leeds United ended last year in the best way possible, stringing a run of games to push themselves to safety. At the start of this year, the club was able to get a cushion just above the relegation zone.
You would think that Daniel Farke would be backed in the January window in order to see the club achieve safety, but what started out as a promising period ended in disappointment. Leeds could not land their marquee target Jorgen Strand Larsen; who they pursued to bring some quality into the attack. PSR was the key factor for that deal not going through, but the club not landing alternatives was disappointing.
The 49ers did bring in one first team signing; Facundo Buonanotte, who joined the club on loan till the end of the season. He was a much needed addition after the club let Jack Harrison go.
Leeds United to make decision on loan star
Things have not gone great since the Argentine arrived; a player who was expected to come and improve the first team immediately found himself on the bench. Buoanotte was limited to just cameos, and his only start this season came in the FA Cup against Birmingham City. He was subbed after just 45 minutes, with Farke explaining that it was a tactical decision. The midfielder has yet to play a game since then.
| Competition | Games | Minutes |
|---|---|---|
| Premier League | 2 | 29 |
| FA Cup | 1 | 45 |
| TOTAL | 3 | 74 |
According to TEAMtalk, unless something significant changes, Leeds United will not move to sign the 21-year old this summer. All signs are pointing to him making a swift return to Brighton after he could not even get minutes off the bench in a 3-0 win against a Championship side.

Facundo Buonanotte was a bad move for the 49ers
It did seem like a good idea at the time, as Buonanotte has history of being a creative spark in a bad team. But so far, nothing looks to be working for Leeds and the midfielder. He struggles to make an impact anytime he is on the pitch, and fans have criticized him for being slow and lethargic on the ball. If the club do go down, many will blame the 49ers for bringing in the wrong January signing; ant other player would have been a better option than what Buonanotte is producing at this moment.
I would sooner show the Leeds Press the door as their mindless articles would exasperate the most patient person and a saintly disposition that tolerates feeble unresearched journalism.
