With just over a week left till the Premier League kicks off Leeds United are in a sticky situation. Despite the club’s preparations going smoothly, there is still the belief that the work done in the transfer market is not enough.
Leeds boss Daniel Farke mentioned this after the pre-season game against Villarreal. So far, most of the club’s new signings have had a taste of the kind of football they will be playing next season. Farke still believes that the team is an attacker away from being ready for the upcoming season.
Joel Piroe has scored in almost every pre-season game for the Whites. He admits he welcomes the competition for his position, amidst the club being linked to multiple signings.
“I have said before, in the Premier League at big clubs you always face competition. So if it’s a new signing or someone from the academy there will always be a battle for players. You just have to influence what you can influence yourself. For me it is keep playing well and scoring goals. For me that is how I want to keep my spot. Everyone wants to be part of the group and it means they are fighting for their spot.”

Liverpool agree to £46M sale of Darwin Nunez
As of Wednesday, it has been confirmed that there is a deal in place between Liverpool and Al Hilal. Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez is set to join the Saudi Pro League side for £46million this summer.
This move holds some relevance for Leeds United.

The Whites have been linked with Al Hilal striker Aleksandar Mitrovic. According to reports, the player’s intermediaries have offered him to clubs in England after reports that Al Hilal are looking to replace him. There has been contact between Mitrovic’s camps and Leeds.
The club are now assessing the possibility of a transfer.
Mitrovic move very unlikely
The financial details of the move mean that there is a very slim chance it progresses. Per reports, the striker earns £400,000-a-week in Saudi Arabia. If he somehow makes his way to West Yorkshire, Leeds would not be able to take his wages.
This limits the possibilities to a loan deal, where Al Hilal will cover most of the strikers wages. And since there has been no evidence of that happening, any move for the Serbian is just speculation.
