Leeds United surprised fans completing the signing of Facundo Buonanotte last week. Before that, it was quiet on all fronts in the January window, with most fans sceptical if any transfer deals would be made at all.
The Whites quickly wrapped up a deal for the Argentine midfielder, which was very necessary after the exit of Jack Harrison. The winger pushed for an exit, and the club knew that another attacking option was needed for the rest of the season. Reports suggest that contact was made with the Brighton man last month, and that the player was eager to make the switch.
Now, there are links that the Whites may add a new striker this month, with names like Jorgen Strand Larsen and Patrick Agyemang being discussed this past week.
49ers to take blame if Leeds United fail to sign major target
It has been reported earlier today that Leeds United have had a bid rejected for Jorgen Strand Larsen. Links to the Norwegian have been in the news since last week, with reports that the Whites had made an official enquiry. However, the club knew that they would not be the only ones in for him as other Premier League teams hold serious interest.
Strand Larsen’s price tag was said to be around £40 million, which would be more than what Leeds United have spent on a single player in a long time. The Telegraph Sport have said that there is no agreement between the two sides, with the current valuation said to be close to what Wolves want for the 25-year old.
Club need to act fast
In the summer, there were some deals that Leeds delayed on completing that eventually backfired. The most famous one was with PSV for Igor Paixao; the Whites ended up losing a key player to Marseille because the club only monitored the situation and did not move until the French club did.
| Season | Club | Games Played | Goals | Assists |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023/24 | Celta Vigo | 39 | 13 | 3 |
| 2024/25 | Wolves | 38 | 14 | 5 |
| 2025/26 | Wolves | 23 | 6 | 2 |
They have made an enquiry for Strand Larsen and have made an official bid. What they need to do now is seal the deal. The club need another source of goals outside Dominic Calvert-Lewin and the Wolves man fits the bill. Both strikers would also fit perfectly in the new 3-5-2 system Daniel Farke is currently using at the moment.

This is the 49er’s M.O. They offer too little, knowing it won’t be accepted, and chase lost causes. They bid late and run out of time. Then blame the player.
