When Leeds United ended last season, many expected them to be raided for their stars in the summer. Players like Anton Stach and Ethan Ampadu had already caught the eye.

Daniel Farke built a team on a solid foundation and they held on to avoid relegation.

The Whites racked up many results from the middle of the season from being defensively resolute. Their back three of Joe Rodon, Jaka Bijol and Pascal Struijk were outstanding.

While the club were able to tie down Ethan Ampadu on a new deal, they had to let go of a key player.

Leeds centre back Pascal Struijk was the first transfer exit confirmed, joining Brighton early in the window.

His departure came as a surprise to many, while some wondered where the club would find a replacement.

Leeds United ended up spending £34 million to bring in Tarik Muharemovic from Sassuolo. The Bosnian earned a lot of reviews during his time in Serie A and even starred in the World Cup.

It was after the transfer deadline that club chief Robbie Evans revealed the details behind the signing.

Per Evans, Leeds were aware that Struijk would leave and started their search for a replacement. They landed on Muharemovic, who ticked all the boxes for a modern defender.

The player has started the season so well, having earned a place in the BBC Sport Team of the Week in the last few weeks.

TEAMtalk are reporting that the Bosnian’s impressive start to the campaign has already caught the eye of European giants. Inter Milan and FC Barcelona are listed as the main suitors.

Inter reportedly missed out on signing him this summer, and are keen on making another move.

Leeds’ stance revealed

Per the report, Leeds United have no intention of selling their star player any time soon. The club are very high on him, and that is the key reason why they spent close to £40 million to bring him in.

Muharemovic is a great piece of scouting by the 49ers, who have done great work in the transfer window.

The new signing already seems to have surpassed what Struijk has done in just a few months with the team.

With Leeds’ ambition, there is no way they will consider selling a player of his level. He will grow and become an even bigger part of the first team down the line.
