This season has seen Leeds United make a great start to their Premier League campaign. Daniel Farke’s side have played very well, and are yet to lose in five games.

Their schedule was a difficult one, but the Whites have managed to work their way through it.

Leeds entered the international break on a positive note, and will be keen on continuing their run of form.

And while some players in the first team have gotten off to a strong start, others have not really impressed in these early days. Farke has always been one to stick with his best lineup in each game.

A few players are now on the fringes of the first team and could find it difficult to work their way into the starting lineup.

Jaka Bijol was a big part of the team last year, and impressed in his debut season.

Now, he has lost his spot in the lineup to Nico Elvedi who seems to be Farke’s preferred choice. Sean Longstaff is also no closer to getting back into the midfield after his injury last year.

He never recovered from that, and Ao Tanaka and Ilia Gruev climbed above him in the pecking order.

Dan James is also a player who has not gotten much playing time since last season. The winger failed to record a goal or assist in 21 games during the previous campaign.

Football Insider are reporting that Championship clubs are lining up to sign the Welsh international.

Dan James just does not fit in this team

In the promotion campaign, James was one of the stars of the show.

He had one of his most prolific seasons as a Leeds player, scoring 12 goals and providing nine assists. The winger thrived as a wide forward in the 4-2-3-1 shape with a fullback on the overlap.

Now that the team plays in a 3-4-2-1, James feels out of place.

The 28-year old is a traditional winger, and the only attacking roles in Farke’s system are the two forward slots either side of Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Farke has mentioned that he could try James as a wingback, but that role has enough competition.

Maybe a move in January would be the best option for the Leeds star considering the teams showing interest.
