Former Premier League star tips Leeds to sack Daniel Farke this season: “Expectations will change”

Daniel Farke proved his detractors wrong last season by keeping Leeds United in the Premier League with games to spare, and showing that he deserves to manage in the top flight again.

Leeds have backed him properly this summer with four new signings, and a few more are expected to arrive at Elland Road before the transfer window closes.

The club are insistent that survival will remain the biggest goal next season, and the club are keen to reestablish themselves as a Premier League team first.

However, there is already talk of Leeds pushing to qualify for Europe, and there is a sense around the fanbase that suggests that they want more from the team in the upcoming campaign.

Daniel Farke tipped to get sacked at Leeds United this season

Former Manchester City star Nedum Onuoha has stuck his neck out and claimed that Leeds will finish the 2026/27 season with a different manager in charge.

He believes Farke will suffer and eventually get sacked because the expectations around Leeds are set to change despite what they are saying at the minute.

The former defender believes Leeds would not have broken their transfer record to sign a goalkeeper like James Trafford if their only ambition was to survive in the Premier League.

He believes their spending pattern suggests that Leeds want more this season.

Nedum Onuoha said on James Lawrence Allcott’s YouTube channel: “This may sound crazy, but I think they will finish the season with a different manager because the expectations will change.

“And it is going to change because they will believe that they should finish higher.

“I think staying up last season was like the first building block in what they are hoping to try to achieve.

“And if they were a team that were going to lounge near the bottom, then they would not have spent that money on James Trafford.

“I think they would have spent it elsewhere.”

Is the delay in offering Daniel Farke a new deal a big red herring?

Farke was expected to sign a new three-year contract at the end of last season, and the noises coming out of the club suggested that agreeing on a new deal would be just a matter of time.

However, the start of the new season is just days away, and there is little to suggest that Leeds are anywhere close to announcing a new deal for the German.

The longer this situation lingers, the more comfortable it may get for Leeds and Farke, and questions will be raised about why the manager has not been offered a new deal.

Some may start questioning where the 49ers actually believe Farke is the man to take Leeds to the next stage after surviving in the Premier League last season.

Who’s yer man? Making predictions for the sake of it. And leave DF alone, it’s idle speculation of these upstarts that unnerves clubs and supporters. As the old saying goes. Paper never refuses ink.
