‘I know it’s not the end of Leeds’ interest…’ – Elland Road insider provides major update on potential Jorgen Strand Larsen deal

Jorgen Strand Larsen

Leeds United have been working very hard this week on completing a deal for Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen. The Whites had an initial bid rejected, with the selling club wanting a larger fee.

However in recent hours, it has been reported that Leeds United are not far off when it comes to the fee Wolves were looking for. There is also some confidence around Elland Road that a deal for the striker could be wrapped up soon.

The 25-year old Norwegian international would become this month’s second signing for Leeds, after the club recently wrapped up a deal for Facundo Buonanotte. The Argentine midfielder pushed for a move, and both parties resolved the details quickly when they met back in December.

Graham Smyth provides update on Jorgen Strand Larsen deal

Graham Smyth has now given an update on the latest involving the Wolves striker. According to him, Leeds are still very interested and are not moving anytime soon:

“Even if their first bid didn’t land and Wolves didn’t jump at it, which let’s be honest, they’re probably not going to, well I know it’s not the end of Leeds’ interest in the player, they haven’t moved on.” he said on the Inside Elland Road podcast.

“I think that’s what they’d be saying if they wanted to draw a line under this or if they put in their absolute best and Wolves had knocked it back.

“But even then, it would make no sense for Leeds to leave the table completely because I’m not buying this Wolves line that they’re content to keep the player until the summer.

“Not entirely, because we all know the difficulties of player trading in a post-relegation apocalyptic landscape and whilst it hasn’t come out that the player has got a relegation clause, would it surprise you?”

49ers are getting their business done early

When other relegation rivals were active in the market, some Leeds United fans questioned why their team had not made any moves. Despite their great run of form to end the year, there are still some problems with the team.

Especially up front; where Leeds rely too much on Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Bringing in Facundo Buonanotte and possibly Jorgen Strand Larsen will take a lot of pressure from the England man as the season goes on. Hopefully, the 49ers can address other deficiencies in the squad as the window goes on.
