Leeds have a number of areas they want to address this summer. Reports have suggested that at the top of Victor Orta’s to do list is the acquisition of a new left-back as well as reinforcements in centre midfield and on the wing.
However, it has been recently suggested that he and Marcelo Bielsa have been so impressed with one of the stars of the Euros that they could be ready to draft in a new centre-back as well.
Last year Leeds proved they had options in the position with Pascal Struijk settling on the left side of defence whilst Robin Koch and Diego Llorente proved to be good buys.
But after Leeds scouts caught a glimpse of Hungary defender Attila Szalai, the Whites are ready to make a move for the Fenerbahce centre-back.
This is according to Fenerbahce reporter Talha Arslan who is verified on Twitter. He tweeted yesterday that Leeds were ready to begin their pursuit of Szalai as he becomes one of their priority transfers targets alongside Spanish left-back Javi Galan: “Marcelo Bielsa and Leeds United director of football Victor Orta want to prioritise the transfers of Ben Brereton for the forward line, Javi Galan for the left-back position and Attila Szalai at centre-back.”
Marcelo Bielsa, Leeds United S.D. Victor Orta’ya, forvet için Ben Brereton, sol bek için Javi Galan ve stoper için ise Attila Szalai transferlerine öncelik verilmesini istiyor.

The acquisition of Szalai would be a savvy bit of business from Orta and Leeds. Not only would it provide further depth in a vital position but it would also give Bielsa a serious headache as he’s forced to decide on the correct pairing at the back and, based on his performances this summer, Szalai could very well force his way into the side especially after he helped Hungary silence Kylian Mbappe last week.
