Leeds United followed up their win over Wolves at Elland Road with a draw with Bournemouth midweek. That result has now seen the Whites reach 40 points in the Premier League.

That mark all but guarantees their safety, but Leeds boss Daniel Farke is adamant that the club is not mathematically safe. Since the Wolves win, the club have been linked with multiple transfers since then. The main one has been about Ladislav Krejci, who is attracting interest from other clubs in England.

The Whites are said to have already approached the defender’s camp over a possible move. There has been no direct contact with Wolves, but there is strong belief that personal terms will not be an issue if a move is on the table.

Leeds to rival Manchester United for Wolves star

Leeds also made an enquiry about Mateus Mane; with Wolves going down, they are expected to sell their most valuable assets including the teenage star. Mane has had a break out season, and could leave in the coming months. Manchester United are said to be interested in the England U18 international.

According to Fussballdaten, Manchester United and Leeds United are set to go head-to-head to sign another Wolves star – Joao Gomes. He is another one of the relegated side’s best players who will definitely be available this summer. Just like with Mane and Krejci, Leeds have made enquiries but there has been no official offer. The midfielder’s price tag is said to be around £50 million this summer. Chelsea, Spurs and Newcastle United have also been credited with interest.

Joao Gomes would be a huge upgrade

Leeds’ current core of midfielders has been okay this season. Ethan Ampadu has been a standout, while Anton Stach has been one of the best signings so far. The backups like Longstaff, Gruev and Ao Tanaka have also played an important part during the season. However with the club having booked another season in the top flight, they need serious quality in the middle of the park. Joao Gomes is an all round midfielder with a lot of dynamism who can chip in with important goals. His ability on the ball and off the ball would fit in under Farke, who seems to prefer physical and high intensity players. £50 million is a steep asking price, but the Whites have managed to sign similar quality players for less.
