All the talk at Leeds United over the last couple of days has revolved around the James Trafford deal. The Whites are closing in on the big summer move for the Manchester City keeper.

It all started out as a hopeful venture, as the club were in search of a new goalkeeper.

Karl Darlow’s exit came as a bit of a surprise to the fanbase, who felt like the Welshman would remain and be Leeds number one going forward. Many keepers were linked in a short period of time.

However, Leeds sources made it quite clear that the club were only willing to wait for Trafford.

Talks over a move have accelerated since last week, with the player returning from the World Cup with England.

The Whites are finally set to address a major problem in the squad. They have not had a stable keeper over the last few years, with Karl Darlow having had to fill in multiple times despite being the backup.

Leeds United have brought in Harry Wilson in attack, and Tarik Muharemovic is a replacement for Pascal Struijk at center back.

News has emerged this week that a striker could be on the 49er’s radar, with Levante star Carlos Espi being the topic of discussion.

Graham Smyth revealed that Leeds have interest in the 21-year old, but the club have no plans of moving for him at the moment. Reports from Spain claim he is set for a move, with England a potential destination.

According to TEAMtalk, Leeds’ striker target is Chelsea star Liam Delap.

The report indicates that the England U21 star’s representatives have made contact with multiple clubs in the league over the last few days. The London club could make Delap available for sale this summer.

Chelsea are pursuing Brighton striker Danny Welbeck, which will open the door for the 23-year old to leave.

Liam Delap would be a huge gamble for Leeds

Delap’s move to Chelsea has now worked out at all, the striker has really struggled.

He made a huge impression with Ipswich Town when they were promoted. Multiple clubs were interested in him back then, but he chose a move to the London club.

Last season, he made 28 appearances and managed to score just one goal.

Leeds would be taking a huge gamble in trying to sign the England U21 international given his recent record.

However, a fresh start for a player like Liam Delap could do wonders for his confidence. He has shown he is a good striker; having netted 20 goals for Hull City and Ipswich over two seasons before his move to Chelsea.

The Whites could look at a deal if the price is right, but for now, Delap would be a huge gamble.
