Leeds United have already started planning their recruitment ahead of next season. The Whites clinched another campaign in the top flight by surviving promotion.

Daniel Farke guided this team and turned things around towards the end of last year. Going into this summer window, the club has to address a lot of things concerning the first team.

Last summer, a handful of players left the club on temporary deals, and almost all of them are set to return this month.

Largie Ramazani, Mateo Joseph, Joe Gelhardt and Max Wober are among the players who may have their futures decided soon.

Fans will mostly be focused on the arrivals, as the club needs to add some reinforcements ahead of next season. Club chairman Paraag Marathe has already mentioned that the club is ready to spend this summer.

Leeds United linked with move for Newcastle United star

Leeds United thought they had resolved their goalkeeping situation last summer when they signed Lucas Perri. The Brazilian came into the team as first choice, but lost out to Karl Darlow in the middle of the season.

This month, the Whites could have just one player under contract as Darlow, Meslier and Cairns’ have their deals expiring.

The Chronicle are reporting that Leeds have turned their attention towards Newcastle United keeper Nick Pope. The 34-year old was Eddie Howe’s first choice for most of this past season, but found himself on the bench in some games.

Going into this summer window, it is believed that the Magpies will be looking to sign a new goalkeeper. Pope is in the final year of his deal, and could cost way less than the £10 million Newcastle paid for him initially.

What this means for Karl Darlow

Karl Darlow is out of contract at the end of the month, and Daniel Farke mentioned that the club will address first team contracts at the end of the season. Many expect him to sign an extension, considering the season he had.

He replaced Lucas Perri and put in solid performances in the second half of the campaign.

And now that the team have been linked with a move for Nick Pope, it raises concerns about Darlow’s time at Elland Road. It was reported that Spurs were eyeing a move for the Leeds keeper, but nothing has been confirmed.

The 49ers will now have to weigh up their options, signing a new keeper or keeping Karl Darlow. But the Nick Pope development has changed things.
