Leeds’ James, Summerville and Rutter named in EFL Championship Team of the Week

Leeds United wingers Dan James and Crysencio Summerville have been named in the EFL’s Championship Team of the Week alongside forward Georginio Rutter following the Whites’ 4-1 demolition of West Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town over the weekend.

Leeds blew the Terriers away with a blistering first half display which saw them go four goals ahead before half-time at Elland Road, before Huddersfield’s Michal Helik scored a second-half consolation for the visitors.

With two goals and two assists notched in Saturday’s contest alone Summerville stood out as Leeds’ best player on the day, as the talented Dutchman continued his current red-hot form.

Fellow winger James, who opened the scoring at Elland Road before netting his second later in the first half, was also impressive – with his pace proving a constant threat to a beleaguered Huddersfield back line.

Despite just providing one assist for his side, Leeds’ record signing Rutter put in another incredible display, with a combination of pace, power, and technical ability being a nightmare for the visitors’ defence to handle.

It was, admittedly, a match in which any of the Leeds starting XI could have been listed in the Team of the Week for their first-half performance alone – with the Whites’ quality proving too much for Darren Moore’s side to handle.

And, with a contest against table-topping Leicester City on Friday evening approaching, Leeds will be hoping for a repeat performance as they seek to close the gap between themselves and the Championship’s automatic promotion spots.
