Leeds United have had some of the greatest footballers and managers of all time wear their colours since the club was invented. And Donald George Revie may be the greatest of them all.
Review joined the Whites in 1958 and spent four years before ending his playing career.
But he returned as a coach and led the club in what many would regard as their best period in English football. Leeds won the First Division twice under Review and also lifted the FA Cup.
The former player and manager’s legacy remains at the club, with a statue outside the home ground.
His work as a coach has earned him legendary status in football, with many hailing him as one of the best of all time.

Last week saw reports emerge that the Premier League had won their case against Manchester City.
City are set to be found guilty over a 100 charges that have been investigated since 2023. And with Pep Guardiola been in charge of the team for that decade, many attribute his success to the financial cheating by the club.
Guardiola’s success at City has been questioned by many, who believe he was only a great manager because of the money.
Journalist Richard Keys echoed this sentiment with a post on X, saying coaches like Nigel Clough, Matt Busby and Bill Shankly are the true geniuses.

49ers are leading the charge for a new era
Ever since the 49ers took full control of the club, their aim has been to take Leeds United back to the top.
They have achieved the early stages by getting the club back into the top flight, and now the key will be to keep them there. Surviving this season will be key, as the second season is usually what determines the fate of a newly-promoted club.
Leeds have splashed the cash, getting in top players like James Trafford and Tarik Muharemovic alongside Harry Wilson.
In the short and medium term, the goal will be to finish near midtable or higher if the team are fortunate. And in the long term, European football will be the aspiration as the Elland Road expansion is underway.
