Leeds’ Rutter named in EFL Team of the Week for performance against Swansea

Leeds United forward Georginio Rutter has found himself named in the EFL’s Team of the Week for his impressive performance in his side’s 3-1 victory against Swansea City on Wednesday evening.

Alongside putting in yet another display filled with overall quality for Leeds in their triumph over the Swans, Wednesday marked an important personal milestone for Rutter as he notched his first home goal in front of a passionate Elland Road crowd.

It was a move which emphasised the Frenchman’s talent as he managed to latch onto a pinpoint accurate long ball from midfielder Ethan Ampadu, which he then brought down with a delightful first touch only to finish with aplomb.

Rutter’s contribution to the score sheet couldn’t have come at a better time for Daniel Farke’s men as he struck right on the stroke of half-time, putting the Whites ahead just before the break.

His perfectly weighted pass for winger Dan James later in the second half, one which the former Swansea man managed to deftly control and then fire into the roof of the net, put the final stamp on yet another awe-inspiring shift from the French Under-21s international.

Rutter has been a revelation so far this season after a tough start to life in West Yorkshire following his arrival in January from Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim for a record-breaking £35m transfer fee.

Where he once struggled to even get on the pitch at all the 21-year-old is now one of the first names on Daniel Farke’s team-sheet as he combines with fellow forwards James, Crysencio Summerville and Joel Piroe to devastating effect.

And, with Middlesbrough still to make the trip to Elland Road tomorrow to cap off a busy three-game week for the Whites, the Elland Road faithful will be hoping for another inspired display from Rutter to fire their side to another three points.
