This summer has seen Leeds United work to improve upon the team that survived the Premier League last season. Daniel Farke’s men rallied after the midpoint of the campaign and managed to finish in 14th.

Another season beckons as the 49ers hope to establish the club in the top flight.

In doing that, Leeds have sought after many quality targets in order to improve the team. The Whites spent an average of £10 million per player last summer, splashing over £100 million.

This window has already seen them eclipse the £70 million mark.

Leeds have brought in Harry Wilson, Tarik Muharemovic and James Trafford.

The 49ers are not done yet as they eye a few more transfers ahead of the deadline.

Nico Elvedi is the latest name that has been linked with a move to West Yorkshire.

News broke that the Swiss defender had agreed terms with Leeds United, and that a fee was being discussed. On Saturday, both parties were said to have agreed to a transfer fee.

Farke mentioned that the next ’24 to 48 hours’ were going to be very crucial.

Elvedi’s arrival will see Sebastiaan Bornauw leave the club. The Belgian defender has been linked with a return to the Bundesliga, with HSV leading the chase.

On Tuesday, Bornauw posted a farewell message to the Leeds fanbase on his Instagram page.

”Dear Leeds family, It’s been a short chapter, but one I’ll never forget. The MOT family is something else – this club is truly special.”

”Thanks for making me feel at home from day one. I loved every minute wearing this badge, especially those nights at Elland Road.”

”All the best, Leeds.”

This all but confirms the center back is on his way to join the German club. And that also means Elvedi will be confirmed as a new Leeds player in the coming hours.

49ers need to address other areas of the team before transfer deadline

James Trafford will be the number one at Elland Road for the long term future.

Leeds are also after a backup goalkeeper to provide support during the season. Tarik Muharemovic comes in to replace Pascal Struijk, and now Nico Elvedi comes in for Sebastiaan Bornauw.

Harry Wilson is an upgrade for the attack, as he scored 11 goals last season.

The Whites still need to a striker after selling Joe Gelhardt, with Joel Piroe also on his way out.

After missing out on Julian Brandt, there are alternatives the club are looking at to provide some depth for the current attack. But there is not much time left in the window and the 49ers need to work fast.
