Leeds United have already hit the 40-point mark with four games left in the season, with a number of their top players emerging as Premier League stars this term.

Their recruitment team deserve immense credit for the players they signed last summer without breaking the bank on any one name, which allowed them to overhaul the squad properly.

A few of the Leeds signings have shocked many in the Premier League and could be in the conversation for the ‘signing of the season’ accolade at the end of the campaign.

However, a Manchester United star has been deemed the signing of the season following a string of consistent performances, which have helped them to almost secure Champions League football.

Anton Stach snubbed as Senne Lammens gets the ‘signing of the season’ claim

Daily Mail writer Nathan Salt has claimed that Lammens’ performances since arriving last summer must make him the signing of the season in the Premier League.

He did mention Anton Stach and conceded that the Leeds midfielder does have legitimate claims to be one of the best signings of the Premier League.

However, he believes the Manchester United goalkeeper has just raced past his peers with his performances.

He wrote: “Now, in light of the latest in a string of fine performances, it is safe to say Lammens has and is proving to be the Premier League’s pound-for-pound signing of the season.

“To [Manchester] United, he is worth his weight in gold.

Rayan Cherki [Manchester City], Granit Xhaka [Sunderland] and Anton Stach [Leeds United] can all make strong cases.”

The Leeds star has been a massive hit

Leeds pulled off a real coup when they managed to convince Stach to move to Elland Road over clubs involved in the Champions League.

The German has been one of the best midfielders in the Premier League this season, and his set-piece delivery has added a different dimension to Daniel Farke’s team.

His free-kick against Aston Villa earlier this year will likely be one of the candidates for goal of the season, and he is clearly a hit amongst Leeds fans.

Stach may not win any individual awards at the end of the season, but he returned to the Germany squad on the back of what he did at Leeds.

Leeds fans know just how crucial he’s been, especially with the club on the brink of securing Premier League survival this season.
