The 49ers are in no rush to get the deal done and are willing to wait until Christmas or even beyond before finalising a major new Leeds United contract.
Leeds United’s recruitment has attracted praise this summer after they secured seven new players for under £90m to strengthen a squad that finished 14th in the Premier League last season.
The Whites also signed up several major players on new deals to secure their futures at Elland Road. Key players such as Ethan Ampadu, Jayden Bogle and Brenden Aaronson have signed fresh terms with Leeds.
They are planning to hold talks over a new three-year contract with manager Daniel Farke, who is in the final 12 months of his current deal, during the next international break this month.
However, they are not in a major rush to finalise the terms of a new contract with the German.

The 49ers are prepared to wait to finalise a new deal for Daniel Farke
Football Insider journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that the 49ers and Daniel Farke are relaxed about the situation despite the German’s current deal running out at the end of the season.
He stressed that Leeds definitely intend to offer Farke improved terms, but they are not in a hurry to finalise everything.
The 49ers could wait until after Christmas to finalise a new contract for the Leeds manager.
O’Rourke said on the Transfer Insider podcast: “We’ve got this upcoming international break in September. That might be an opportunity for Leeds to sit down and discuss things with Farke.
“But I think all parties are quite relaxed about this situation, and I think confidence is high that a new deal will be completed in due course, whether that’s before Christmas or afterwards.
“They had a fine transfer window as well and brought in some very good players to improve the squad, so I’m sure Leeds will be looking to sit down with Farke soon.
“Leeds want to reward him for what he’s done at Elland Road since he took over; he’s led them to the Premier League and established them in the top flight last season as well.
“So Leeds are looking to build on that for this season, and they want to keep Farke around to continue the good job he has done.”
49ers must not leave the Daniel Farke decision hanging
Daniel Farke has put any doubts over his ability to handle the Premier League firmly to bed, guiding Leeds to safety with several games still left to play during the 2025/26 campaign.
There will always be a section of the fanbase who remain unconvinced, but Farke’s standing at Elland Road has arguably never been stronger. The German has won over the majority of supporters by delivering results and proving that Leeds can compete in the top flight without the spending power of many of their rivals.
His side are also developing a clear identity. Leeds are organised, difficult to break down and willing to work relentlessly for each other, whether they are facing a title contender or a team around them in the table.
That kind of work is unlikely to go unnoticed forever. If Farke’s contract situation remains unresolved, it is only natural that clubs with bigger budgets could begin to view him as an attractive option.
For the 49ers, this should be a warning. There is little value in allowing uncertainty over the manager’s future to drag on, and Leeds should be doing everything possible to secure Farke’s long-term commitment sooner rather than later.
