Leeds United handed unexpected boost ahead of Everton clash

Everton Leeds United

Leeds United will be back in Premier League action in over a week when they host Fulham at Elland Road. Their last league game did not go very well as they lost to Newcastle United.

It was a game that looked winnable from the start for the Whites. They took an early lead through Brenden Aaronson, but the home side pulled one back. Dominic Calvert-Lewin cooly slotted a penalty to give his side a 2-1 lead going into half time.

The second half was full of goals, with the drama and entertainment exceeding the previous period. Leeds took the lead after Joelinton levelled the scores early in the second period. All was set for a precious away win, when the referee blew for a penalty after Aaronson was deemed to have handled the ball. Bruno Guimaraes scored from the spot, and with almost the last kick of the game, Harvey Barnes sealed the win.

Everton will be without key man for Leeds United game

Leeds will have to deal with a very strong Fulham side in the Premier League next, but after that they visit Everton. The Whites have been handed an unexpected boost as Toffees defender Michael Keane will miss the game through a red card suspension. Keane was sent off against Wolves, and even though his side appealed the decision, the card was not rescinded. His three game ban will include the game against Daniel Farke’s side at the end of the month.

Whites can get a result against Moyes’ side

The defeat to Newcastle United should be seen as merely a blip by Farke’s side; the German admitted that the team was a bit naive not defending the lead and staying open at the end of the game. The late defeat came as quite a surprise as Leeds shut out Liverpool and only conceded one goal against Manchester United in the previous games.

Everton are a beatable side; the Whites beat them in their first Premier League game of the season, and fans should be confident of a win when they visit. They will be without one of their key defenders, but that will not be a problem for Leeds who have been able to find the back of the net regularly this campaign.
