Leeds United have already strengthened their squad with the signings of Harry Wilson and Tarik Muharemovic this summer, and the club are working to complete several more deals in the coming weeks.

The Whites are closing in on a final agreement to sign Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford in a club-record deal, with the player already agreeing personal terms with the Whites.

However, Leeds suffered a major transfer blow in the last few days when Julian Brandt snubbed a move to Elland Road in favour of joining Dutch giants Ajax.

The Whites felt confident of convincing the 30-year-old to move to England. However, he finally decided to move to the less intense Dutch league.

Leeds United hold talks with forward after Julian Brandt blow

With Brandt choosing to join Ajax, Leeds have turned their attention towards other targets in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Daniel Farke remains committed to adding more creative quality to his squad ahead of the new season, and the club are now assessing other options.

Igor Paixao has reemerged as a target for Leeds this summer, a year after he snubbed a move to Elland Road in favour of joining French giants Marseille.

According to French outlet Foot Mercato, Leeds have held initial discussions with the player’s representatives over a move to England this summer.

The talks are not at an advanced stage, and Leeds are only assessing the possibility of taking the Brazilian to Elland Road.

However, Leeds know him well as he was their top target last summer and still has admirers in the club’s recruitment team.

But the Whites are only willing to pay up to £30m for him, while Marseille want more than £42m for Paixao this summer.

He is on Leeds’ shortlist as they continue to assess the market ahead of deciding on which target to pursue.

Igor Paixao would be a solid signing

Leeds were left disappointed when Igor Paixao chose Champions League football and Marseille over a move to Elland Road last summer.

However, the Whites were very keen to sign him, and he was seen as one of the players who could be a difference-maker in the team.

Leeds eventually signed Noah Okafor later in the window, but their interest in Paixao shows that they are still keen to get their hands on the Brazilian.

Paixao registered 12 goals and seven assists last season, playing a key role for a Marseille side that finished fifth in Ligue 1 despite off-field financial turmoil.

Marseille are prepared to sell the Brazilian this summer, not because of his performances, but because they need to generate funds through player sales.

He would be a solid signing for Leeds if they manage to convince the Brazilian to move to Elland Road a year after they initially planned to sign him.
