Last summer saw the 49ers bring two strikers to Leeds United. Before Dominic Calvert-Lewin arrived, Lukas Nmecha was the first summer signing.
It was clear that the team had identified the lack of quality up top and wanted to address it.
Joel Piroe, Patrick Bamford and Mateo Joseph were the regular options in the Championship. So Leeds acted fast to bring in more quality as there were serious question marks over Piroe.
This was even with the striker finishing the promotion campaign as the top scorer.
When Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin arrived, Leeds fans were still not pleased with the business done. To them, the quality was not enough and the team needed some star names to make an impact.
The duo ended the campaign with over 20 goals combined, showing that the 49ers made the right choice.
Leeds United keen on Ligue 1 striker
Even with the Leeds United signings bringing the goals last season, the team lacked a cutting edge up front.
It was very concerning as the team could go a stretch of games without finding the back of the net. The club are addressing this going into next season; a deal has been reached with Harry Wilson.
The former Fulham man will bring goals and creativity from midfield.
Foot Mercato are also adding that Leeds are keen on signing Auxerre striker Lassine Sinayoko. The Malian international has scored 12 goals and provided four assists this past season.
His profile is quite similar to Calvert-Lewin and Nmecha; tall striker who is great with his back to goal.

Sinayoko open to summer switch
Sinayoko has entered the last year of his contract at Auxerre and is reportedly open to leaving.
He spoke to French media outlet Ici Bourgogne Franche-Comté last month, saying the decision will not be down to him.
“It’s a period that I like a lot because I want to know where I am, to know who is going wherever it is here, whether it’s in all the clubs.
”So it’s really a window that I really like. But now, it’s no longer my responsibility.
”Everything that is said left and right, as long as it doesn’t come out of my mouth, as long as it doesn’t come out of the mouths of my representatives, I don’t pay attention to it, I don’t believe it.”
The 30 year old has 30 appearances for the Malian national team and has scored 10 goals.
Why are we looking at a OAP squad, been thinning this age group out, and now started again, and also renewing Cairns as well, that really sets out what 49ers are about cheap and free old boys, total lack of ambition, might as well have kept Bamford, Ayling and Cooper, crazy crazy planning! 🙈
