Leeds United on course to receive major financial boost this summer – 49ers deserve massive credit

Joe Gelhardt

A lot of transfers went on at Leeds United during the summer transfer window. The obvious highlight was the club signing 10 new players ahead of their return to the Premier League.

The knock on effect was clear, as some players who starred in the promotion campaign were let go. Other squad players also found their way out of Elland Road as Daniel Farke made a huge decision on his squad. Patrick Bamford was one of the high profile names that left; agreeing to mutually terminate his contract.

Other players who found themselves leaving Leeds United included Mateo Joseph, Joe Gelhardt and Largie Ramazani. Farke gave the green light for Ramazani, and since Joseph missed pre-season, he was not in the club’s plans.

Leeds United set to receive huge boost this summer

Joe Gelhardt was a much different decision by the club; he had already not been on great terms with Farke over the last few seasons. The once highly-rated forward re-joined Hull City this summer after a promising loan spell in the second half of last season. And after Gelhardt’s performances this season, it looks like he is close to the exit at Elland Road.

Hull Sporting Director Jared Dublin has recently confirmed that Joe Gelhardt would be one of the first targets in the summer. Per TEAMtalk, the Tigers are willing to pay around £3 million to £5 million for the 23-year old. Leeds United will be open to any sort of permanent exit for the forward who will have 12 months left on his contract in the summer.

49ers made the best decision with Joe Gelhardt

Credit must be given to the 49ers for allowing Gelhardt to go back to an environment he thrived in. His loan deal at Hull City has seen his value rise, especially after falling because he barely played any first team football over the last year. And if he does leave on a permanent deal, that money goes to PSR as Leeds would have made a profit off the young forward.

It will be disappointing for Leeds fans to see him go, as he arrived at the club as one of the best youngsters in the country. In the end, this move was the best for both parties and the benefit will be huge for the 49ers.
