Leeds United prepping offer for on loan defender

According to Football Insider, Leeds United are considering making Joe Rodon’s loan move permanent at the end of the season.

Since joining on a season-long deal in August, the defender has been a key figure under Daniel Farke, featuring in 44 matches across all competitions.

His tenure at Elland Road has provided him with a platform to rejuvenate his career after facing challenges since his transfer to Tottenham Hotspur in 2020.

The centre-back has become a huge part of the White’s push for promotion, forming a solid defensive partnership with fellow Welshman Ethan Ampadu.

Rodon initially attracted the attention of the Premier League club with standout displays for Swansea City, leading to an £11 million transfer to North London.

Despite the promising start, he has only made 24 appearances across all competitions for his parent club, and spent the previous season on loan at French club Rennes.

The duo have played a crucial role in propelling Leeds up the table, briefly securing the top spot last month before a recent dip in form pushed them back to third.

Despite this setback, they remain optimistic about their prospects of making a swift return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Regardless of the outcome, reports suggest that Leeds United are eager to secure the Wales international’s services permanently, with Spurs indicating an asking price ranging from £10-15 million.

What next for Rodon?

Both parties seem very keen to make the move happen, should Leeds United get promoted or not. Should the move happen, United will have signed a Premier League-ready defender who also knows the club.

Rodon will no doubt be fully focused on helping the Whites make it back to the promised land of the Premier League, eliminating any potential roadblocks towards a permanent move.
