So much has gone on around Leeds United over the weekend. The Whites played their final pre-season game as they now set their sights toward the new season.

However, the work in the transfer window is far from done as the weeks go by.

Fans have complained that Leeds have not done enough to improve the squad from last year. Before the summer, Daniel Farke urged the ownership to invest in transfers.

They have responded; landing big names like Harry Wilson and big money signings like Tarik Muharemovic and James Trafford.

With key areas of the team’s spine secured, the 49ers now have to sort out the other areas of the squad. Sky sources reported a few weeks ago that Leeds could be after a goalkeeper, a fullback, two midfielders and a striker before the window closes.

Leeds United transfer could be completed today

Daniel Farke’s side have made some strides as they clear out space in the squad ahead of new additions.

Joe Gelhardt completed his long-awaited move to Hull City, and was officially announced on Saturday. And West Ham are in the process of signing striker Joel Piroe.

As of Tuesday, ExWHUEmployee via The West Ham Way, has reported that Piroe is undergoing his medical.

It is very likely that a transfer will be completed in the next 12 hours.

Per multiple reports, Leeds have agreed to an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy. The obligation is reported to be triggered if the Hammers win promotion to the Premier League.

The London club kicked off their Championship campaign with a 2-2 draw against Burnley on Sunday.

The team now has space for a new center forward

Gelhardt and Piroe leaving Elland Road now creates space for the squad to add a new striker.

Graham Smyth mentioned during the transfer window that the profile for potential targets had been laid out. Leeds want a younger option in the role who can compete with Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Spanish striker Carlos Espi was one of those targets, before Real Madrid swooped in and signed him.

The 49ers will get a healthy transfer fee from Gelhardt, that they can use to find another striker who can fit into the first team.

Last season, the club seemed to be overly dependent on Calvert-Lewin, and it became very clear during his goal drought in the early months of this year.
