Leeds United completed a stunning comeback against Liverpool in Chicago on Sunday. The Whites wrapped up their pre-season tour of the US in style.

Things looked very concerning in the first half after the Reds took a two-goal lead.

Andoni Iraola’s men looked unplayable on the day, and left Leeds fans scratching their head as to how their team could turn things around.

Daniel Farke managed to do just that at half-time; he made four substitutions. On came Brenden Aaronson, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Sean Longstaff and Harry Wilson.

Leeds managed to score just 15 minutes into the second half thanks to Aaronson.

A goal and an assist from the midfielder, and a brace from Calvert-Lewin were enough to see Farke’s men wrap up their US journey on a positive note.

Phil Thompson stunned by Leeds United’s latest signing

Aaronson and Calvert-Lewin were in the thick of things in the second half, providing the goals, but another player caught the attention.

Speaking to LFCTV, Liverpool legend Phil Thompson praised Leeds United for signing Harry Wilson.

“He (Wilson) had a great season last year,” said Thompson. “I suspect there would have been a few teams wanting to sign him.

“So for him to go to Leeds, I just think it’s a great acquisition. It’s not just the goals he scores, it’s the assists as well.

“He is a player who last season played with confidence, and he’s a real threat when he’s at the top of his game. He’s incredible to watch at times. He’s got great quality.

“When he is playing with that confidence, he can be a real problem. He will try things that other won’t think to do. He has the ability to pull it off as well.”

Wilson came through the ranks at Anfield and has gone on to make a great career for himself.

Leeds United still need more signings

Today’s game was a game of two halves; Leeds did not show up in the first half but they dominated the second period.

Daniel Farke would have no doubt been impressed with how the players affected the second half of the game. The substitutions were spot on and they came on to make an immediate impact.

But there are still some holes in the squad.

Robbie Fowler has tipped Leeds to push for Europe, and in order to do that they need more quality. The 49ers must continue to push harder for signings ahead of the new season.
