Leeds United completed a stunning comeback on Sunday in their pre-season win over Liverpool in Chicago. The Whites were in the worst position possible after the first 45 minutes.
They were outplayed by Andoni Iraola’s men, who made the first half look like a training session.
Goals from Luke Chambers and Florian Wirtz were enough to give the Reds the advantage just before the half-time break. Leeds looked flat and out of the game before going into the tunnel.
The match was very interesting considering the Whites were near full strength, while Liverpool fielded a mostly second-string side.
But Daniel Farke’s changes and team talk at half-time worked magic.
Robbie Fowler makes Leeds United prediction ahead of new season
Leeds United came out swinging in the second period, with Brenden Aaronson pulling one back in the first 15 minutes.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin found himself unmarked at the far post as he scored the equaliser 10 minutes later. Sean Longstaff converted the third after some nice work from Aaronson in the box.
Calvert-Lewin sealed the game in the 85th minute to complete the comeback.
Former Liverpool player Robbie Fowler was impressed with the performance from Daniel Farke’s men in Chicago. He tipped Leeds to end up higher than their 14th-place finish last season.
“It’s a conundrum for Leeds this season,” said Fowler speaking to LFCTV. “For me Leeds is a big club, so I think they should be getting in Europe as a minimum aim.
“But whether they can get near that or not is obviously a completely different conversation.
“I think when you look at their fanbase, you can see how big the club is and what the expectations are.
“They have to try finish higher up this season. I know they only came up the other year and finished 14th – they did struggle a bit at times last season.
“But then you have got to remember who you are, and that club has got to achieve big things and they have got to be aiming high this season.”

Daniel Farke will take positives from second half comeback
The first 45 minutes were very worrying; Leeds did not look like they were ready for the intensity of Liverpool.
They were slow and all over the place, and were too easily cut open by Liverpool. Daniel Farke would have definitely had some words with the team during the half-time break.
But the second half showed just how much depth Leeds are building going forward.
They started the game without Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Harry Wilson, Sean Longstaff and Brenden Aaronson on the pitch.
All four came into the game and provided immediate impact, with three of them being involved in the four goals scored.
