Leeds United will look to bounce back on Monday night when they host Newcastle United at Elland Road following their EFL Cup disaster at Chelsea earlier this week.
Chelsea scored six second-half goals to put Leeds through the sword in a 6-3 win and dumped them out of the EFL Cup on Wednesday night.
The result exposed a few issues in the Leeds squad, including the quality of their backup goalkeeper Michael Zetterer, who joined the club towards the end of the summer window.
Leeds need a performance and a result on Monday night, but they will be taking on a Newcastle side who are looking refreshed under new manager Matthias Jaissle this season.

Matthias Jaissle makes blunt Leeds United admission
This will be Matthias Jaissle’s first trip to Elland Road when Leeds take on Newcastle under the lights on Monday night, and the atmosphere is expected to be electric.
Leeds have not lost in the league yet this season, and the Newcastle boss has conceded that if his players want to compete on Monday night, they need to respond to the Elland Road atmosphere.
He stressed that Leeds are a tough team to beat at home and credited Daniel Farke for building an excellent unit. He wants his players to be prepared for a tough encounter under the lights.
Jaissle said in a press conference: “Leeds United will be a tough away match.
“They are a top team; their manager is doing an excellent job. The atmosphere will be good; we need to match that. The players will need to match that.
“If we can do that, we can get a good result.”
Leeds need to keep their league form going
The result on Wednesday night was tough to swallow for Leeds, but they need to move on from the Chelsea defeat and focus on the league.
Leeds have made a strong start to the Premier League season and are unbeaten despite a tricky start against a few established teams.
Newcastle at Elland Road under the lights is something Leeds supporters should realise, and Daniel Farke will back his team to get a result at home.
A win on Monday night will go a long way in ensuring that the result at Chelsea will be quickly forgotten.
