Leeds United had a disappointing window in January, only managing to sign one player. The club’s fans were frustrated once again after the events that happened in the summer window.
Facundo Buonanotte was the only player that joined the first team in the previous window. There was also a late move to try and sign striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, but it failed and he moved to Crystal Palace. Buonanotte has turned out to be an awful acquisition as he had made zero impact since he arrived at Elland Road. The midfielder is set to return to Brighton at the end of the season.
Sheffield United keen on Kalvin Phillips return
One club that was very active in January with former Leeds players is Sheffield United. The Blades managed to bring in Joe Rothwell, Kalvin Phillips and Leo Hjelde to boost their squad for the second half of the season. Chris Wilder’s side also added Patrick Bamford on a free transfer before the end of last year, and he has been a solid performer in the team.
According to The Star, the Blades are keen on bringing back Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips this summer. The England man has played just three games in total, but is expected to return from injury before the end of the season. Chris Wilder’s side are expected to bring Phillips back this summer, with the midfielder open to a return. The 30-year old’s contract at the Etihad is yet to expire, so Sheffield will only explore a temporary deal. Wilder has rescued the club after they were close to the relegation zone a few months ago.

49ers should be happy to have moved on from former Leeds United man
Before this season, it seemed like Kalvin Phillips had always been linked with a return to Elland Road. Fans missed the midfielder, who brought them a lot of pride and joy, but a move never materialized. And it has turned out to be a very sound decision for the Whites to not explore a move for him since his departure. Phillips has declined in many aspects of the game, and is still injury prone. Going all out to sign him in the last few years would have been a waste of funds, as he has shown in his multiple failed loan spells.
