Simon Jordan can’t resist another dig at Leeds United star live on talkSPORT: “Once he puts his handbags…“

Leeds United played so well against Newcastle in the game on Monday night that they had two players in BBCs Team of the Week. That did not stop Simon Jordan from taking a dig at one of them.

Daniel Farke’s side managed to put four goals past a Newcastle side that had been unbeaten this season.

Matthias Jaissle’s side had shown very impressive displays against Liverpool, Spurs and Bournemouth in previous games. But they were completely outplayed at Elland Road.

Leeds showed a very efficient attacking performance, and created many chances in the game.

They played so well that they had a 3-0 lead at halftime before they added one goal in the second period. Bazoumana Toure scored a late consolation goal for the Magpies to make it 4-1.

Jayden Bogle, Noah Okafor and Dominic Calvert-Lewin found themselves on the scoresheet for the home side.

Leeds United had two players in the BBC Team of the Week, with Calvert-Lewin and Tarik Muharemovic making the cut. Calvert-Lewin produced a brilliant display up front on Monday night.

When discussing the game on talkSPORT, Simon Jordan praised the striker but could not resist a dig at him.

“No one disputes that once he puts his handbags down and starts being a centre-forward, Dominic Calvert-Lewin can play.”

Asked if he agrees that Calvert-Lewin is the second-best English striker: “He has always been a good player.

“He had a very good season at Everton, and then the injuries had taken their toll on him.

“He is having a good moment in time, and let’s see whether it can be sustained.”

Fans will be pleased with Leeds’ attack on Monday night

The Whites have obviously had some great results to start the season, but the lack of attacking edge looked worrying.

In games where they could have won, the frontline fluffed their lines. Before the game against Newcastle United, Leeds had scored just three goals in the Premier League.

Putting four past a very good Magpies team in an impressive display will no doubt please the fans.

It also shows that some parts of the team are beginning to click, and when Leeds are in full flow, the team will be unstoppable with their attacking threat.
