Leeds United delivered the perfect response to their drubbing at the hands of Chelsea last week. The Whites played so well on Monday that two of their players were named in BBCs Team of the Week.

Daniel Farke’s men set out with a job to do at Elland Road against Newcastle United.

And they came flying out of the blocks with their aggression and intensity, winning the ball all over the pitch. They opened the scoring 32 minutes into the game, forcing an own goal.

Goals from Jayden Bogle and Dominic Calvert-Lewin stretched the lead ahead of the second half.

Newcastle seemed to have no answers to the home side, and Leeds finished off the game just 15 minutes into the second half with Noah Okafor wrapping up the scoring.

Outside how ruthless the Leeds United attack were during the game, the more impressive performance came from the backline.

The Whites managed to shut down the Magpies, who had been pretty impressive this season. Matthias Jassle’s men had scored two goals each against Liverpool, Spurs and Bournemouth.

Tarik Muharemovic was a standout on the night, and was named in BBCs Team of the Week alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Troy Deeney was full of praise for the Bosnian centre back, writing a few words to describe his dominant performance.

”What a beast he is. I don’t know where Leeds found him but he heads it, kicks it, runs through people.”

”Didn’t get the clean sheet against Newcastle but deserved it.”

The 23-year old defender won all of his tackles and ground duels, and also completed two interceptions and recovered the ball eight times. He also had an assist and completed 88% of his passes.

Leeds managing director Robbie Evans pointed out that the club knew Pascal Struijk wanted to leave last year.

So they set out to find an ideal replacement; their search landed them on a young Muharemovic playing in Italy for Sassuolo. The club spent quite a lot to sign him this summer, but he is already delivering.

Not many clubs can boast of such an impressive scouting process.

In just a handful of games in England, Muharemovic looks quality and will be a starting piece in this team for a long time.
