The conversations surrounding Leeds United vs Man City have continued since the weekend. Instead of the focus being on what a good match it was, the discourse has not completely diverted.
On Saturday, Leeds will feel they should have gotten something against Pep Guardiola’s side. They dominated the first half, and should have at least scored one goal given the chances they had. Brenden Aaronson and Dominic Calvert-Lewin were guilty of missing big chances.
Antoine Semenyo popped up with a goal just before half time, and that was enough for Man City to take the win.
Simon Jordan defends Leeds United after Saturday’s incident
The controversy since Saturday remains the incident during the game when play was paused. It was designated for some Muslim players to break their Ramadan fast. Some boos and chants could be heard from the home crowd, and the reactions after the game have not been great. Simon Jordan has defended the Elland Road crowd, and blamed Man City for taking advantage of the break in play.
”I’m just fascinated why the preferred explanation is it has to be racism of some shape or form. Why is the preferred explanation? You have a leads fan on the call that’s suggesting that it’s a matter of course; the Man City players have all gone over. By the way, why would they be all going over? Because they’re taking a competitive advantage out of it.” he said on talkSPORT.
”So, I always find it fascinating when an explanation is given why the preferred explanation is it must be discrimination? Why is that the preferred one? Why is it why is somebody that wasn’t there able to trump somebody that was there and say ‘I prefer it to be discrimination’.
”It may well be in my point of view, that actually it might just be that football fans were totally intolerant of the fact that the entire Man City team rather than being stood in their positions waiting for the Muslim players that were fasting to be able to break their fast, were now taking a competitive advantage out of it.”

Whites must bounce back on Tuesday night
While most people still want to focus on what happened on Saturday, Daniel Farke and Leeds United do not have that luxury. They have to face Sunderland on Tuesday night, another difficult game at this point of the season. The Whites cannot afford to slip twice; they were quite fortunate that over the weekend, none of their relegation rivals were able to gain ground. But if they do fail to get points again, it could be a problem – every game is crucial at this point of the season.
