After the results of this past weekend, Leeds United will be regretting their match against Crystal Palace on Sunday. Going into the game, the Whites knew they could not lose.
Leeds had failed to get a point in their last two games, losing to both Sunderland and Manchester City. In that time, both Nottingham Forest and West Ham picked up points to close the gap. Daniel Farke’s men were the better side against Crystal Palace on Sunday, but they regretted not taking their chances. Dominic Calvert-Lewin missed a penalty, which could have changed the game. Both teams shared points, but the away side could have done better.
| Position | Team | Games | Points |
|---|---|---|---|
| 15 | Leeds United | 30 | 32 |
| 16 | Tottenham | 30 | 30 |
| 17 | Nottingham Forest | 30 | 29 |
| 18 | West Ham | 30 | 29 |
| 19 | Burnley | 30 | 20 |
| 20 | Wolves | 30 | 16 |
This weekend also saw West Ham and Forest pick up crucial results again, and now the battle near the bottom of the table is looking very tight. With Spurs getting a draw against Liverpool at this point of the season, things are not looking great for Farke’s men.
Simon Jordan makes surprising admission about Leeds United in relegation battle
Simon Jordan has been speaking on talkSPORT about the relegation battle, and he thinks Leeds are the only side who do not have pressure on them. Compared to the likes of West Ham, Forest and Spurs who have the most attention, the Whites going down was expected and will not be a surprise.
“If you put Leeds out of the equation, who are drawing their way to safety, out of the last 24 games, they’ve drawn nine of them, and they’ve drawn against big sides as well, but they’re drawing, and they’re still losing games every now and then against the Sunderland’s of the world who we didn’t expect. If it’s Forest, Spurs or West Ham who go down, all of them come with a massive story.”
Jordan also believes that the Hammers will be the third team to complete the relegation trio: “I think it’ll be West Ham,”.

Leeds must use this advantage
Much like throughout this campaign, the Whites have gone to take points off much bigger clubs. The reason being that they do not have much to lose when they line up for those games. Against Crystal Palace, it was clear that the pressure was on the home side and not Leeds, but they failed to capitalize. Daniel Farke’s men must use this to their advantage; they play most of the teams around them in the coming months and the pressure means they can easily make mistakes and slip up against Leeds.
