Leeds United picked up another valuable point on the road against Crystal Palace on Sunday to take their total points tally for the season to 32.
The Whites had to play the entirety of the second half with ten men after Gabriel Gudmundsson was controversially sent off after getting two yellow cards, with the second one coming on the brink of half-time.
Following his dismissal, Crystal Palace player Jaydee Canvot was spotted celebrating, which sparked a reaction from two Elland Road legends following the game.
A former Chelsea player also had his say on Gudmundsson’s bizarre sending off, which most Leeds fans will ultimately agree with.

The thing that will infuriate Leeds fans the most about Gudmundsson’s sending off is that referee Thomas Bramall seemingly forgot he had booked the Swedish defender initially, and if he had realised this, then it is likely that Gudmundsson would not have seen red.
Covering the game for BBC Sport Extra 2, former Chelsea shot-stopper Schwarzer had his say on the dramatic events that unfolded at Selhurst Park.
“(Leeds) almost went down to 10 men (with Jaka Bijol nearly being sent off), and 30 seconds later they are down to 10 men! You feel for (Gudmundsson). There are emotions and frustration, and I think he is a little bit unfortunate.”
Whilst Leeds managed to weather the storm and escape South London with a point, Daniel Farke and Co. will still be enraged with the decision which ultimately forced the German to set up more defensively in the second half.
Data suggests Leeds are still likely to stay up
With both West Ham and Nottingham Forest drawing at the weekend, the gap between Leeds and the bottom remains at three points.
This suits Leeds, who can just match the results of those two teams around them for the last eight games of the season and stay in the division.
Following the weekend’s fixtures, Opta’s supercomputer has updated to reflect each team’s chances of being relegated.
- Leeds are still expected to stay up, with their chances of relegation sitting at just 6.45%
- Spurs, who are 16th, are said to have a 13.18% chance of going down
- Forest are said to have a 34.05% chance of going down, whilst West Ham’s chances of playing in the Championship next season sit at 46.57%
Ultimately, for Leeds, a draw in each one of their remaining eight games would likely be enough, with those points taking United to that all-important 40-point mark, but for the supporters’ sanity, a few more big wins at Elland Road would be enough to settle the nerves and effectively get the job done.
