Leeds United went on a six game unbeaten run before losing to Newcastle United midweek. That run of games signalled a change in the team that was needed.
After a winless run over a month ago, the Whites slipped into the relegation zone. Everything seemed to be going downhill as Daniel Farke was even tipped to be sacked by December. But the club have turn things around, and early into the second half of the season, they are already eight points clear of the relegation zone.
A lot of this change came down to how Farke selected his team; he changed the system and tried some players in new roles. And that set off a run of games that saw his side beat Chelsea and Crystal Palace, and recently holding Liverpool to a goalless draw at Anfield. Some players at the club have played their best football this season since that tactical switch.
Leeds United target among plan for January transfers
The change in system has also meant the need for personnel; Farke himself admitted that he needed specialists when he decided to reintroduce Sebastiaan Bornauw to the matchday squad as cover for Jaka Bijol, who was now part of the first choice back three.
Leeds have now realized with the recent Joe Rodon injury that they may be thin when it comes to depth at center back. When the Welsh international was out, Bornauw had to step in, leaving no natural defender in that position on the bench.
According to TEAMtalk, Leeds United have identified a key target among potential transfers this month. Union Berlin defender Danilho Doekhi is very keen on a move to Elland Road, but the Whites want a lower fee. The Dutchman is out of contract this summer and Leeds want a cut price deal to get him this month.
49ers need to make a move for a center back
At this point of the season, the options are clear for the 49ers, either pay for the player or move to another target. If Leeds want to miss out on strengthening a key area of the squad, they could throw away their season doing that.
Danilho Doekhi wants to sign with the club, and Leeds know that they need depth going into this part of the season. There should be no reason why the 49ers do not get this deal wrapped up. Delaying on moving on targets cost the team in the summer transfer window, and now fans should hope it does not repeat itself this time around.
