49ers must facilitate Leeds United deal for Rangers star after ‘sensational’ World Cup audition

Leeds United are focused on the summer transfer window as they look to build on finishing 14th in their first season in the Premier League.

Chairman Paraag Marathe has claimed that Leeds will bring in fewer signings this summer compared to last season, as they believe they have a strong foundation in place.

Leeds boss Daniel Farke stressed the importance of showing ambition in the market and insisted that he may not be the right man if the Whites just want to maintain the status quo.

The manager is eager to see the 49ers make a statement in the transfer market this summer, and few moves would demonstrate that ambition more clearly than securing the signing of a Rangers midfielder who is attracting interest from several other clubs.

49ers must facilitate a transfer for Nicolas Raskin to Leeds

It is a minor miracle Rangers have managed to hold on to Nicolas Raskin until now, given his consistency over the last few seasons.

His impressive form has earned him a place in Belgium’s World Cup squad, and he made a notable impact off the bench with an eye-catching cameo in Saturday’s 5-0 victory over Tunisia.

Raskin showed why he is part of a top squad this World Cup with an assured performance from the bench and even scored in the win over Tunisia.

The performance also showed why Rangers would struggle to hold on to the combative midfielder this summer, as several top clubs in Europe and the Premier League have their eyes on him.

Leeds should be in the mix as well, and the 49ers should give them an edge in the race for the Belgian if they make a concrete move for him.

It’s time Leeds get some advantage in the market of the 49ers owning Rangers and land a top player who is wanted by several clubs.

Paraag Marathe must step up

There were concerns at Leeds when the 49ers invested to become the majority owner of Rangers, and Paraag Marathe entered the boardroom at Ibrox.

Marathe recently stepped down as the vice-chairman of Rangers, but retains the same amount of control at the club.

The Leeds chairman must now step up and try to find a way to get Nicolas Raskin to Elland Road in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Nicolas Raskin Rangers 2025/26 Player Statistics
⚽ Competition 👕 Apps 🎯 Goals 🅰️ Assists ⏱️ Mins
Scottish Premiership 33 6 7 2,785′
UEFA Europa League 8 0 1 691′
UEFA Champions League (Qual.) 6 0 0 431′
Total 2025/26 Campaign 47 6 8 3,907′

If Leeds can convince the player about the club’s long-term vision and sporting project, there is little reason why they should not be able to reach an agreement with Rangers on a transfer fee, especially given that both clubs are under 49ers ownership.

It’s time Leeds got some benefit in the market of the 49ers’ multi-club model and use it to land a player of Raskin’s quality.
