After a crucial point against Aston Villa, Leeds United are up against Manchester City this weekend. The Whites will continue their fight for survival as they navigate their way at the bottom half of the table.
Their recent results have moved them from close to danger to now having a six-point cushion above the relegation zone. And as it stands, they are one of the teams that look like they can beat the drop. Teams in and around Leeds are not stable; with Spurs and Forest having hired new managers recently, and West Ham losing a huge game over the weekend. Every game from now till the end of the season will be like a final for Daniel Farke’s men.
Leeds United handed huge boost after Manchester City news
Ahead of the game at Elland Road this weekend, Manchester City already have some huge injury doubts. Even with some first team players returning recently, some stars have been ruled out of the upcoming game. Jeremy Doku might be a doubt for the game as he continues to recover from a calf injury. The winger went off injured in the Champions League in January and is yet to return.
Josko Gvardiol is a more long-term absence, after picking up a tibial fracture. With the seriousness of that type of injury, many expect the defender to be out for several months. Mateo Kovacic is another player who is not set to return to first team action anytime soon. The midfielder is out after calcification of his ankle/heel and could be back for the final games of the season.

Elland Road will be a huge factor once again
A home game for Leeds United has more often than not, produced a favourable result for the home side. The Whites have won 22 of their 31 points at Elland Road this season, which is one of the better records in the league. Going off recent games, fans should have confidence for the tie on Saturday night; the Whites have gotten two points from a possible six against Chelsea and Aston Villa.
| Record | Games | Points Won | Goals Scored | Goals Conceded |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| HOME | 13 | 22 | 22 | 18 |
| AWAY | 14 | 9 | 15 | 28 |
If the home crowd create the atmosphere they have throughout the season, then there is every chance Leeds can snatch something when Pep Guardiola’s side come to visit. A result for Daniel Farke’s side will also be precious in the race for survival.
I thought West Ham drew 0-0 at the weekend. Shows how much I know!
