Manchester United are the new favourites to sign Brighton centre-back Ben White.
The 23-year-old has excelled in the Premier League this season after returning to the Seagulls from a loan spell at Leeds United.
During his one season at Elland Road, White became a huge favourite as he helped the West Yorkshire club earn promotion back to the top flight.
He became recognised as a Rolls-Royce defender and Brighton fought tooth and nail to keep him at The Amex during the summer, rejecting a £25m offer from Leeds.
White then signed a new four-year contract with the south coast club in September, allowing them to now demand a sizeable transfer fee for their academy product.
Liverpool, who are currently experience a centre-back crisis, have been heavily linked but it now appears Man Utd are in pole position as they seek a defensive overhaul.
The inconsistencies of Harry Maguire, Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelöf has forced the United hierarchy to take action following their Champions League group stage exit.
White is believed to head a three-man shortlist and this has resulted in the Red Devils becoming the new favourites to land him at 7/4 (Coral).
Liverpool remain firmly in the race (2/1) while Leeds are at 9/2 to come back in for their former star next month.
Ben White next club odds:
Manchester United – 7/4
Liverpool – 2/1
Arsenal – 9/2
Leeds – 9/2
Tottenham – 9/2
