Daniel Farke and his Leeds United squad are busy in their preparations for the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea at Wembley today.

The Leeds manager has come through fire this season to prove himself in the Premier League after there were calls for the club to change managers immediately after the German won promotion from the Championship last season.

There were doubts around his ability to manage in the top flight after his double failure at Norwich City, and Leeds came under immense pressure towards the end of the 2025 to sack him amid a torrid run of form.

However, with Leeds on the cusp of securing safety and a possible FA Cup semi-final, the narrative has shifted towards the possibility of him extending his stay at Elland Road.

Beren Cross drops Daniel Farke contract update

The Athletic journalist is the ultimate Leeds insider and is known for keeping tabs on the inner workings of Yorkshire giants.

He has claimed Farke’s position at Leeds has never been this strong after he emerged from the early-season problems to the cusp of securing Premier League safety.

Cross pointed out that the German will only have a year left on his contract at the end of the season, which is a problem for the club.

He is certain that once Leeds are guaranteed to remain in the Premier League, the 49ers will offer the manager a new contract to reward his performance.

Cross said on talkSPORT: “His position has never been stronger, and his contract is due to expire in 2027.

“I fully expect that once the season is finished and they are confirmed in the Premier League, who knows may well be FA Cup winners, he will very much be due a new contract.”

The 49ers should not waste any time

Farke has had his detractors at Leeds since the day he arrived at Elland Road, and many didn’t expect him to keep them up in the Premier League this season.

He has proven doubters, inside and outside the club, wrong, and could now end their wait for an FA Cup final appearance after five long decades.

There is no reason why the 49ers should waste any time in offering the German a new contract and securing his future at Elland Road.

He won’t be short of offers if he feels not appreciated enough at Leeds and wants to consider his options beyond the club.
