Clubs set to trigger Leeds midfielder’s relegation release clause this summer

According to The Athletic, Brendan Aaaronson has a release clause in his contract which could be triggered this summer.

The report comes from sources within the club, which revealed that the USMNT star has a relegation release clause. After Leeds were officially relegated from the Premier League on Sunday, the clause is active, and the report claims many clubs are interested in taking him off Leeds’ hands.

The Whites signed the USMNT midfielder for around £25million from Red Bull Salzburg. The club are reportedly looking to recoup their investment if any deal is to happen. But there is hope that the American will start next season’s campaign at Elland Road.

The 22-year old featured in 36 league games this season but fell out of favour with both Javi Gracia, and later Sam Allardyce.

Aaronson could follow on-loan midfielder Weston McKennie will return to Juventus as the first departures this summer as the club retools for Championship football.
