West Brom manager Sam Allardyce will go all out to sign Manchester United winger Dan James in January, but he faces strong competition.
Big Sam has made a loan move for the Welsh international Albion’s top transfer priority as he looks to make the Baggies more dangerous on the counter attack.
James has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford over the last few months with long-time admirers Leeds still favourites to be his next club.
Marcelo Bielsa came within a whisker of signing James from Swansea in January 2019, only for the move to fall through before he signed for Man Utd six months later.
Leeds are believed to have made another attempt to sign James again before the start of this season, only for the player to commit himself to the Red Devils.
Although James is keen to stay at Old Trafford and fight for his place, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is open to letting him leave on loan until the end of this season.
Solskjaer’s stance has also alerted Brighton who have James’ former Swansea manager Graham Potter at the helm.
Burnley are the other club interested as they try to overcome their current winger crisis with Dwight McNeil and Robbie Brady currently sidelined.
Despite the high interest in James, a stay in Manchester is still favoured by the player with first-team opportunities arising in recent weeks.
James started and scored in Man Utd’s recent Premier League victory over Leeds, before retaining his place in the starting line-up for Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Leicester.
