Done deal: Leo Hjelde to join Rotherham on loan for the rest of the season

Leeds United centre-back Leo Hjelde has agreed a deal to join Championship side Rotherham United on loan until the end of the 2022/23 season, the club have confirmed

This announcement comes amid speculation considering his departure over recent days.

Since arriving in Yorkshire at the start of the Whites’ 2021/22 campaign, the 19-year-old has made a total of five first-team appearances. He has also repeatedly impressed with his performances at Under-21s level.

Noted for his versatility, Hjelde is able to play at both centre-back and left-back, and has featured in both positions during his time playing for Leeds.

Rotherham boss Matt Taylor will be hoping that the addition of Hjelde to his defensive ranks will bolster a side staving off relegation this season as the Millers currently sit one point above the relegation zone in 21st place.

The club have wished the “best of luck” to the young Norwegian as he leaves the club until summer.
