Ranking every 2023/24 Leeds United signing

With the appointment of Daniel Farke as Leeds United head coach last year, the club was active in the transfer market to prepare for the upcoming season in the Championship.

Leeds were hoping to bounce back and win promotion to the Premier League. Today we rank all of Leeds’ signings in the 2023/24 season.

1. Ethan Ampadu

The best signing of 2023/24 was between Joe Rodon and Ethan Ampadu but the Welsh midfielder gains the slight advantage here.

Signed from Chelsea with a lot to prove, Ampadu has been a standout and arguably the best midfielder in the Championship this season. A solid addition to the team with versatility to play in defence and midfield. £7million for this quality was a bargain.

2. Joe Rodon

“Never fall in love with a loan player” – that’s exactly what Leeds fans have done this season with Rodon. The defender has been a rock at the back and his excellent performances even moved Liam Cooper out of the starting lineup.

The welsh defender formed a great partnership with Pascal Struijk this season and has earned a lot of plaudits, with teams looking to sign him this summer. A fantastic loan signing for the Whites.

3. Sam Byram

The fairytale story this season, Byram was given a chance on trial in pre season before being handed a one year deal. The defender grabbed the opportunity with both hands and played some of the best football of his career.

Byram filled in at left back with ease and has been one of the team’s best performers this season.

4. Glenn Kamara

The midfielder brought experience to a relatively inexperienced midfield at Elland Road. It took a while for him to adapt to the team but he became a consistent performer under Daniel Farke.

5. Jaidon Anthony

The deal with Bournemouth is widely seen as  bad one; Anthony hasn’t been great for the team while Sinisterra contributed for the Cherries in the Premier League. One of the more underwhelming signings this season.

6. Illia Gruev

The Bulgarian was always going to be a rotation player with Ampadu and Kamara ahead of him in the pecking order.

He’s struggled a bit this season, but as a young player coming into England there is optimism he will adapt with time.

7. Karl Darlow

Signed to compete with Illan Meslier, the keeper has found himself as the backup. Darlow only played two league games this season.

8. Connor Roberts

The loanee has barely played during his time at Elland Road; having to settle for substitute appearances and a few cup games.

A better quality fullback option would have helped Leeds more this season.

9. Djed Spence

Had a bright start but got injured and barely played after. Ended his loan in January and left the club on a bad note.

Spence joins Leeds on a season-long loan.
