Leeds United have enjoyed stability under Daniel Farke that several top-flight clubs lack, and a former White could lose his job because of the managerial churn.

Leed fans would be disappointed that their side didn’t make the most of Manchester United’s troubles when they met at Elland Road earlier this month.

Since then, they have suffered heavy defeats to Como and Bournemouth, and Michael Carrick is clinging to his job at Old Trafford.

The Manchester United hierarchy surprisingly gave Carrick more time following crunch talks this week, but that could be a ploy for one former Leeds star to save his skin at Old Trafford.

Jason Wilcox’s job is on the line at Old Trafford

Fans chanted the Manchester United director of football’s name unfavourably at Old Trafford on Sunday during Manchester United’s 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth.

Wilcox has come under pressure over questionable recruitment decisions and the failure of successive managers under him.

He was part of the decision-making group that kept Erik ten Hag in the job in the summer of 2024 and then sacked him in October.

The former White also helped hire Ruben Amorim, and the Portuguese was sacked partly because he fell out with the director of football.

If Carrick gets sacked soon, he would be the third mid-season managerial sacking at Old Trafford in the last three years.

According to the BBC, Wilcox will also lose his job if Manchester United sack their current manager. He and Omar Berrada, Manchester United’s CEO, are under fire at Old Trafford.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is likely considering an overhaul of the senior executive team that has overseen multiple managerial failures over the last couple of years.

Wilcox’s Leeds links under scrutiny at Old Trafford

With Jason Wilcox under pressure at Old Trafford, his links with Leeds have also come under scrutiny, raising questions about whether that makes him unsuitable for a senior role at Manchester United.

Former Red Devil star Peter Schmeichel has openly attacked Wilcox, insisting the former White hated Manchester United during his playing career.

He said: “I just don’t understand why he is there. When he played for Leeds, he was supposed to hate Man United, and he hated Man United.

“At Blackburn, when he was there, they won the league and beat us to it on the last day.”

It remains to be seen whether his history at Leeds will factor into whether he continues as Manchester United’s director of football.
