The battle for survival looks like it will go to the wire, with Leeds United involved. The Whites have turned their fortunes around since the end of last year.
They now look in a favourable position to beat the drop, but with the Premier League, anything can happen. It was just a few weeks ago that West Ham and Forest looked to be picking up crucial points, but now, Leeds have opened a point gap on the two sides. Daniel Farke’s men have gone through an incredible run, picking up five points from a possible nine against Forest, Chelsea and Aston Villa.
No one knows how the league table is going to look like after the next 11 games, but the mission is clear for Leeds between now and the end of the season.
Former Premier League stars give Leeds United relegation verdict
As it stands, Wolves are most definitely going down alongside Burnley. But from 15th to 18th place is just a six point gap, which is very easy to close with 11 games to go. Leeds face Manchester City this weekend, in what will be a very difficult clash. Fortunately for the home side, Pep Guardiola could still be without up to three first team players as they pursue Arsenal in the title race.
Despite all of this, many rate Leeds as one of the favourites to stay up, including former Premier League player Robbie Munstoe:
“All three promoted sides basically bought new teams, and it’s really hard to predict how that’s going to go.
“Obviously, two of them have done really, really well with these new players and Burnley not so much. Another great point for them (Leeds), what does that put them on, 31 points, you can see the light,”
Another Ex-Premier League star Robbie Earl also said he likes the chances for Daniel Farke’s men: “I must admit, I like Leeds, they’ve done a quietly incredible job, really well set up, they made it really difficult for Villa,”

Daniel Farke must avoid complacency
From now till the end of the season, it will be as crucial as ever not to be losing games. Sides that are in trouble need to aim for wins and draws; losing games will not be beneficial to anybody. Because just getting one point could be the difference between relegation and survival. Leeds run of games from now till the end of the season will not make things any easier as they have to battle teams in an around them till the final day. However, if the last few months have proved anything, it is that this team has the mentality to achieve the impossible.
