Roberton Mancini praises ‘quality’ Wilfried Gnonto

Italy national team boss Roberto Mancini has praised Wilfried Gnonto for making an impact in the Premier League this season.

Gnonto arrived at Elland Road for a reported £3.8million from FC Zurich. He has impressed in the league this season, scoring two goals and providing one assist so far. The teenager has been Leeds’ spark in attack this season, often being the best player in most games.

Italy boss Roberto Mancini says Gnonto’s performances this season is down to his quality as a player:

“Maybe. Gnonto is a young boy, no one has thought of hiring him but he plays as a starter in the Premier League and that’s not a given at 19.

“He can still improve and he’s young, he has quality. I hope other young people can follow his example and go abroad to play. If they are good then they play”.

Gnonto has gone from an unknown youngster to a fan favourite at Elland Road. He has already made an impact over other youngsters at the club since he joined. You have the feeling that Leeds’ hopes of Premier League survival will lie with the Italian.
