Leeds United snapped their four-game losing streak on Wednesday night with a surprise result at Elland Road. The Whites shocked everyone in the Premier League as they beat Chelsea 3-1.
Going into the game, nothing was going right for the home side, who were in terrible form. And just before the match, news emerged about Daniel Farke’s future. But Leeds took the lead just six minutes into the game with Jaka Bijol powering a header past Robert Sanchez.
Ao Tanaka then doubled the home side’s lead with a goal just before half-time. Chelsea were stunned and did not really recover until Pedro Neto pulled one back early in the second half. Dominic Calvert-Lewin then delivered the final blow as he capitalized on a defensive error to seal the game. After the match, Gary Neville said Leeds United deserved the win, and said Chelsea deserved to lose because they underrated the home side.
Chelsea legend furious after Leeds United defeat
Former Chelsea man Jason Cundy was not happy with the result on Wednesday night, saying that the Whites did not deserve to win. Cundy was speaking on TalkSport: “Leeds weren’t even that great, we were absolutely terrible. I have watched Leeds this season, they have been good.
“They were good against Spurs first half, against Villa first half, but not tonight.
“They just put three at the back, they didn’t press us. We were shocking. This was a big game.
“I heard Daniel Farke’s interview by the way, what is he talking about three great goals, did he not see the third goal? He’s a man on borrowed time.
“You know what, I hope Leeds get relegated and get relegated again, back to where they belong in League One.
“Marching On Together? You lot march back to League One where you lot belong.”
Daniel Farke saves his Leeds United job
Despite securing a huge win, Farke’s men are not out of hot water yet. They are temporarily out of the relegation zone with West Ham yet to play their next game. All this win does is buy the Leeds boss sometime ahead of the club’s next game. But it will inspire the players that they can get a result against bigger sides.
And their next game is at home to Liverpool this weekend. The Reds failed to get a win midweek, struggling to draw against Sunderland. Which will give the home side some hope that they can add to the crucial points they won on Wednesday night.
Jason who? Thought you said a Chelsea legend…
What a biassed clown.
…….and now, a month down the line, he’s praising Leeds and saying how well they’re playing. He’s even admitted they played well against “his mob”.
