Leeds United and Arsenal have injury doubts following the international break. They face off this weekend as Premier League action resumes.

Daniel Farke will not be happy following the news surrounding Jean-Matteo Bahoya.

The winger picked up an ankle injury on duty with France’s U21 side and had to leave the team camp. He will be assessed at Thorp Arch to see the timeline for his recovery.

Arsenal suffered some injuries of their own as Kai Havertz picked up a problem.

Christos Tzolis also pulled his hamstring and is expected to be out for months. Harry Wilson also had a quad injury just before the break, and there is no word on if he will be available this weekend.

One thing Daniel Farke will be pleased about is the fact that Dominic Calvert-Lewin is fit and available.

The striker was called up by Thomas Tuchel for England’s Nations League games. James Trafford played the first two games for the Three Lions, as Tuchel assessed his options in goal.

Calvert-Lewin did not get that chance; he only managed to play a total of 21 minutes in the four games.

Tuchel was vocal ahead of the World Cup that England need to find a striker competent enough to be the main backup for Harry Kane.

The player will no doubt be unhappy given the fact that Tuchel did rotate in some of the games. Daniel Farke will be pleased that his star striker got a much needed rest during the international break.

Whites need Calvert-Lewin more than ever this season

It was clear during the summer that Leeds were not going to buy a striker to replace the former Everton man.

Club chief Robbie Evans mentioned that they were always in the market for a player willing to be in a backup role. So ultimately, the 49ers decided to not buy a centre forward.

Last season, Leeds had Joel Piroe to use in cup games alongside Lukas Nmecha.

But the club loaned him out this season leaving Nmecha and Calvert-Lewin as the only striker options. Keeping them fresh and available should be the priority for the Whites this season.

Playing just 20 minutes for England during the international break benefitted Leeds United in the end.
