Leeds United have been handed a potentially significant boost ahead of their next Premier League fixture against Tottenham, with a key member of Daniel Farke’s defence edging closer to a return.
The Whites have had to manage their options at the back in recent weeks, making the prospect of welcoming an experienced player back into contention particularly welcome. Uncertainty remains over his immediate availability, but comments from an international manager have offered fresh encouragement.
Wales boss Craig Bellamy has provided an update after including the Leeds defender in his latest squad.

Bellamy offers positive update on Leeds defender

The player in question is Joe Rodon, who has been dealing with an issue that has kept him out of action.
Bellamy confirmed that he has remained in regular contact with the centre-back and suggested he could feature for Leeds this weekend.
“I’m always in contact with Joe”, Bellamy said following his squad announcement.
“He feels good at this present moment. Hopefully he’s involved this weekend. If he isn’t, we’ll adapt around it. But he’s good to go at the moment.”
The Wales manager was clearly keen to have Rodon available for the upcoming international fixtures, particularly with Ben Cabango suspended for the opening game.
Leeds will be keen to have him back

Bellamy also acknowledged that Rodon is not always forthcoming when he is carrying a problem, making his latest update all the more encouraging.
“When you speak to him, he always doesn’t tell you if he’s feeling anything at all. But he’s an immense player, a huge player, so fingers crossed we get to use him because we have Ben Cabango suspended as well in the first game.
“So hopefully a good week. We’re able to use Joe because we definitely need him.”
For Leeds, the immediate focus will be on whether Rodon is ready to return against Spurs. His experience and familiarity with Farke’s defensive system would be valuable, especially as the fixture schedule continues to put pressure on the squad.
Bellamy’s comments do not guarantee a return this weekend, but they suggest the defender is making encouraging progress at an important time for Leeds.
