Leeds United are inching closer to Premier League survival, which means plans are already being put into place for the next summer transfer window.

The Leeds recruitment team have already started working on targets, and the 49ers are prepared to fund a summer spree to further enhance the quality of the squad.

Daniel Farke is ready to add more midfield reinforcements to his squad, and the club are putting early work on a potential deal to sign Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney.

However, Leeds are expected to sign one more striker in the next transfer window, and the club have identified a World Cup-bound star as a potential target.

Leeds United eye a summer move for Derby County striker Patrick Agyemang

The Whites would have preferred to sign one more attacker in the winter transfer window. However, they held back for a major move in the summer.

Leeds are almost certain to sign a striker at the end of the season, as Joel Piroe, who rejected offers to leave in January, will likely move on from Elland Road in the summer transfer window.

The Dutchman has become a bit-part player at Leeds and will leave Elland Road at the end of the season to play more football.

Leeds are aware that they need to replace Piroe in the summer, and according to Football Insider, they have their eyes on Derby striker Patrick Agyemang.

The 25-year-old striker has scored 10 goals in the Championship so far this season, and is almost certain to be in the United States squad for the World Cup.

He has more than three years left on his contract, but Derby are expecting big offers for the attacker in the next summer transfer window.

If Agyemang ends up impressing in the World Cup as well, the Rams could be in a good position to demand a considerable fee for him.

He will not be a Hollywood signing

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been Leeds’ talisman up front, and he is expected to remain the first-choice striker at Elland Road next season as well.

Lukas Nmecha has caught the eye despite his limited minutes, so any striker brought in next summer is unlikely to walk straight into the Leeds starting XI.

Piroe’s replacement will have to accept that he is initially going to be a backup to Calvert-Lewin, which means no established forward would accept that role.

Agyemang will not be a Hollywood signing, but a chance to play in the Premier League means he is more likely to accept a back-up role in the squad.

However, Leeds may not want to spend big money on a player who is only likely to be a squad option initially.
