Leeds United are in the market for a goalkeeper this summer amid the uncertainty around Karl Darlow’s future at Elland Road.
Darlow is no longer a Leeds player after his contract expired at the end of June. However, he has yet to sign a new contract with the Whites amid interest from Everton and Manchester United.
Leeds have been working on signing a goalkeeper while waiting for the Welshman to make up his mind. However, they have suffered a blow in their pursuit of a new shot-stopper after Zion Suzuki turned down a move to Elland Road.
But the Whites are now being backed to sign another World Cup goalkeeper, Norway’s Orjan Nyland, whose heroics helped his team reach the quarter-finals.
Leeds tipped to sign Orjan Nyland
Erling Haaland scored two goals to help Norway beat Brazil in the last 16 clash on Sunday evening. However, Norway had to thank Orjan Nyland for keeping them in the game.
He saved Bruno Guimaraes’ penalty in the first half, and pulled off a couple of sensational saves in the second half to keep his team in the game.

Former Premier League scout Mick Brown has insisted that since Leeds need a new goalkeeper, they could do a lot worse than sign Nyland in the ongoing window.
With the Norway star available on a free transfer, he feels this is definitely a gamble worth taking for Leeds.
“Signing a new goalkeeper has been a big part of Leeds’ plans this summer”, Brown told Football Insider.
“Karl Darlow had a strong season for them, but Lucas Perri struggled, and they’ve been looking at several potential options to improve on what they’ve already got.
“They’ve been aware that they need a new goalkeeper and scouts have been watching some of their targets, while they will also have been keeping an eye on the World Cup.
“Norway’s goalkeeper, Orjan Nyland, has had an outstanding tournament so far and I would be very surprised if he weren’t somebody they had a look at.
“If he could perform for Leeds the way he has for Norway so far, he would be a significant upgrade on their current options, and they could certainly do a lot worse.
“His age probably isn’t ideal; he wouldn’t be a signing for the future, but on a free transfer it’s definitely something to explore.”
Leeds need a goalkeeper soon
With Leeds United now out of the running to sign Zion Suzuki, the club need to resolve their goalkeeping situation quickly before the squad returns for pre-season.
Karl Darlow has been offered a new contract to remain at Elland Road, but the experienced goalkeeper is still weighing up his options amid interest from Everton and Manchester United.
There is also uncertainty surrounding Lucas Perri. After an underwhelming first season, Leeds are open to letting him leave if they succeed in bringing in another goalkeeper this summer.
With pre-season just around the corner, Daniel Farke will be keen to have clarity over his goalkeeping department sooner rather than later.
Where has this nonsense story some from? We aren’t going to buy a 35 year old. Ortega is available on a free. I would move for him.
